THIS SUCKS !!!!!

Bought an 81cc GSA NGC MS 66 from a dealer. Sent money for the coin . Eight days later I get a call telling me that there was a mix up and they did not have the coin . In the mean time I sold my 81cc GSA . Now I have a HOLE in my GSA set .

<< <i>Hold the dealer to finding you another...... and do not let up. >>
The dealer said he could find another GSA in MS 66 of another date. I told him this would not due seeing how I sold my 81cc GSA .
The bay of e has lots of 81cc GSA's but not in MS 66.

That is exactly what you should do.
A promise is a promise and a commercial offering is, for all intents and purposes, a promise.
The reason why organizations such as the BBB came into being was to protect buyers from sellers that would ram anything down your throat for a buck.
Unfortunately (aside from citing ANA rules that very few seem to apply) a lot of dealers just move coins, rip off the unwary and then claim impotency if they can't deliver.
I recall a guy who told me once "I am waiting for delivery of the coin I sold you from the guy I just bought it from after you purchased". I did get my coin but I never bought from those people again.
In addition to the "wannabe" rants it would be nice to see some people on this forum take a more severe stance concerning broken promises like the one you have brought to our attention.
Instead of hammering everybody within earshot maybe applying a true code of ethics (with censors that can do something) is necessary. I once thought that the ANA was a vehicle for that sort of thing but it seems to be a political arena concerned with discount cards and trivia rather than an association that defends the interests of ANA card holding buyers (such as I am). I don't dispute the educational value of the courses, shows, museum (and related gadget store).
What I do find worrisome is that the coin market seems to ooh and ahh when the $1,000,000 mark gets passed (fairly frequently of late) but rip offs and "mistakes" just don't seem to matter.

There are many reasons why some coin dealers and the "coin industry" (whatever that is) has developed a bad reputation among the uninitiated.
Those of us who love coins, love collecting and love numismatics (like me) know what to expect from many dealers in terms of business practices and don't get upset when a shark behaves like a shark.
Many of us just laugh. It's all so obvious and many of the 'sharp' dealers think they are being so clever. I've collected for over 40 years and have seen just about everything! Many dealers can really be quite entertaining if you can keep a sense of humnor.
When was the last time you offered a coin for sale to a dealer and was told it was undergraded and worth more than you expected?
When was the last time you bought a coin from a dealer and was told it was overgraded and worth less than was asked?
Enough said.
