sonic cleaning?

have any of you fine people ever tried to clean some of your finds using sonic cleaners?
We have a new one at work and I was wondering if it worked on coins and such??????

    Never tried it on detector finds, though we had ultrasonic cleaners in the jewelry store I worked in.

    You don't wanna try it on any kind of jewelry with stones like emeralds, opals, or jade- my jewelry store coworkers had a saying: "if it's green, it's mean."

    It might be interesting to try on coins- I fail to see how it could harm them?

    I'd try it. You want one of thoes good ones that The Sharper Image has, not one of those cheap ones. I ment to buy the sharper image one, but came across another $15 dollar one, so I gave it a shot, Compleate waste of money, all it does is makes waves and an annoying noise. If the one at your job is a good one use it, if not, don't bother.

    I would say the worst-case scenario would be that it does nothing. I imagine it wouldn't do a whole lot one way or the other, for good or bad.

    I would use electrolysis instead.

    It works for busty crustys and for things that you dont know what it is.I have been using this type of cleaning for a few weeks and it works better than olive oil.Less mess and easier cleanup just let them go overnight and in the morning walla its recognizable.image
