Washington DC card shops.....

I am going to be in DC for a couple of days later this week and, if time permits, would like to drop into a shop or two. Staying very near the Capitol Building. Thanks to anybody who can offer assistance.

I live here and I don't know of any in DC. Real estate is probably too pricey to pull it off. There is one place I've seen in a mall in Springfield, VA, but it is certainly not worth you time or effort to go there. From what I remember it was all modern with one or two piles of VG vintage (50-70's mainly) marked at Mint prices.

I have seen some local people talk about a shop in Maryland that may be worth a visit. Hopefully, some Marylanders will chime in.
  • There is one in Rockville, MD near a metro stop (across the street from White Flint mall). I can give better directions if you are actually going there. It's very small, but I've found some nice stuff there. The guy who runs it sells most everything EX or better for the Beckett book price.

  • Hey,

Lived in D.C./Northern VA area for the past 24 years until just this past June. There are really no shops worth bothering with in my opinion. They do have pretty good shows at the Dulles Expo in Chantilly and I believe there is one in November if you are there at the right time. Check the CSA website as I believe they manage the shows.

I didn't see it when I was there a few years ago but isn't there a T-206 Wagner at one of the Smithsonian museums?

The T-206 Wagner is with the Baseball as America show, which is currently travelling I believe.

There are a few good shops between DC and Baltimore, but I haven't had the chance to make it to one yet. If you are going to have a rental car, that's probably your best bet. They are probably a 30 minute drive from DC - one is between Baltimore and Annapolis (Front Row)

Another is in downtown Laurel, MD (Sports Card Heroes))

From what I can gather, these 2 are the only ones worth visiting. Have a nice stay in our nation's capital.
  • House of Cards is in Silver Spring, MD and they have good stuff. Call first as they have odd hours. The shop Mudflap mentioned in Laurel is nice - lots of authentic football memorabilia and ok selection of 50s and newer baseball and football.

Art is the House of Cards near Walter Reed Army Hospital?

I used to go to a shop near Walter Reed when I went to DC for classes.

It had some vintage but the prices were on the high side.

I liked just looking around tho.

Mudflat points out Front Row. Not sure if he's ever been there, but it is the only shop remaining in my vicinity. Most of the inventory has been sitting there for years, and the merchandising has changed to gaming and video games. He does have a significant amount of ungraded vintage stuff that may be had for the right price if that's what you are hunting for. Regards. He is reputable but stiff.
Proud of my 16x20 autographed and framed collection - all signed in person. Not big on modern - I'm stuck in the past!
