Just bought this from NEN.

Interesting year and coin, 1923 was first year South Africa made Imperial Sovereigns.
They made 655 for proof sets. Business strike was only 719 pieces, although Krause has it as low as 64 and Marsh has 406 pieces.

This will be my first entombed coin as well.

I'm like a cat on a hot tin roof. It will at least 2 weeks before it arrives.

    Congrats!! That's a major addition to any set. My Hern's Handbook on SA coins and patterns list it as 655 proofs struck as well. image

    Proof gold coins are awesome. I'm surprised it will take to weeks to get to you. I have sent coins to Australia and had them arrive in 7 days.

    The time lays mainly in getting payment to them.

    NEN are quite rightly a little wary of first time overseas customers.
