I can sum up the appeal of that coin in three characters: "1 / 0"

Maybe you should change the title of your post to "Check out the holder containing a proof Jefferson bringing strong money."

Looks to be a great strike on the reverse. The photo of the obverse shows some marks on the cheek? The toning looks super. However, I think the 1941 in the same auction looks more like a PR68. Glad to see the proof coin market is solid.

personally, i think my 1940 is a bit cleaner and has toning which is blue/gold and nicer than the picture shows. in addition it's graded PR67 and has the added caveat of being the "wrong" reverse. to date, i'm into it to the tune of about $80. so tell me, which coin would you rather have??image

would you pay 4000 for this coin raw?? one third the price?? if the coin is a great coin and somewhat stands on its own merits it has got to be worth at least 4000? at least one third of its holdered price??

answer that then this answers all of your questions

Definitely not. I am surprised at the premium that the holder is creating for this coin. Right now its at about 40 times the price of the next grade lower (by holder) and it doesn't have the eye appeal in my opinion.

    I'll take Keets' coin.

    Much rarer.

I only have 3-4 of these, but they are for sure keepers. Yes a few 67's, but mostly 66's.

I'll take Keets' coin, all day, every day ... serious money for one TPG's opinion ... my PR-67 ran $300.
