Toning on Clad Coins

I've done a bit of reading lately and can now say I have a reasonable understanding of the process by which silver coins tone. According to the books sulpher is the main factor when it comes to toning silver coins. One thing I just realized, however, is that nothing I've read deals with clad coins. Is the toning process for clad coins similar to that of silver coins? Is it still a case where sulpher is the main ingredient?

Sulfur is basically always the main ingredient... the base metal of the coin more determines how long the process takes, and what colors are created. Since silver is so reactive, it tones up the best.
