Question about the value of Junk Silver

I am not looking to sell anything, so please dont say "take it to BST". But I am wondering what I could expect to get for junk silver.
I have 11 Franklin halves, 14 Mercury Dimes and 52 Washington Quarters for a total of about $20 face. What could I expect to get for this? Sorry for the dumb question.

Depends on whether you sell to a dealer or a silver hoarder. Range would be somewhere between 4x and 5.5x face.

Junk sliver is running a smidge over 5x face on eBay now. I'd say you should take it to your local dealer and cash it in with minimal effort. You'd probably find a buyer on the BST, but I can't argue that it would be worth your time to pack it up and ship it off.

Honestly, it's better to go to a local dealer... tacking on the cost of shipping makes it less profitable...

Right now, 90% junk silver is about 4.5x face from most dealers... don't take less than 4x face... though some dealers will only take junk silver in large quantities...

One man's junk is another man's jalopy.

I put mine on ebay starting at face value. Some of them are real scarey.
For me, it's about continuing the activity of promoting numismatics, even if not too profitable and even if they don't meet Laura's or Mr Hall's standards. There are people looking to fill folders or wanting to buy silver at SPOT price and don't even mind covering the postage and handling to get it. Believe it or not, it's still fun to fill that empty spot in a folder.

I know its for the BST when selling, Ripped, but I'd give you the 4x plus S&H for it, if , by junk, you mean circulated pieces, not damaged, bent or otherwise destroyed pieces.

A common date mercury dime in good condition is worth forty cents or so, but to a kid that doesn't yet have a 1944 in his Whitman Folder (mintage 231,410,000), it might be worth 25 cents and a dollar for shipping image. And his dad just might get it for him, too.

And what that one dime might do for the future of our small little niche in society could be worth much more than what Colonel E.H.R. Green anticipated his five Liberty nickels in 1913 might be worth one day. Who'da thunk ?

    In addtion,

The only dumb question is the one that doesn't get asked.
