I do not search for mispriced BIN's on eBay - but realize some people do

show us some RIPs you have seen or have snagged yourself

I was doing a search and would have been happy with this on

I have never done a BIN because I can't stand the thought of paying more than necessary to win the coin, hopefully at or near the opening bid.image
I collect Capped Bust series by variety in PCGS AU/MS grades.

Damn, I wish I'd have seen that one!

    I'm bookmarking this seller. image

BIN-hunting can be very rewarding, but more often it's very frustrating. The really great rips tend to get ripped in a matter of minutes. If you want to be depressed some time, search for completed listings, sort by "Date listed: oldest first", and then go to the end of the list. The last page or two has closed items that were listed in the last day, which are pretty much just BINs, plus Live Auctions and a mixture of items that the seller closed early due to a real mistake in the listing. I've seen some great stuff that way, after the fact. A couple examples examples from the last day:

1843-D $5 gold, lasted less than 3 hours before being BINned for $650
">grouping of nice-looking mixed type, lasted less than 2 hours before being BINned for $60

Here are some of my BIN scores in the last few months. None of these are true rips, but if nothing else, these have helped fund some of my eBay mistakes...:

Bought 16 proof sets including 1999 and 2001 for a little over $300, sold them for a little over $500.
Bought a clipped State Quarter for $4 (don't know what it's really worth, but got to be more than that) (I kept this one)
Bought a British gold half-sovereign plus a random junk Morgan dollar for $15 including shipping, sold for $60 or so.
Bought $180 face in junk silver for 4x face, sold it for 5x face.

  • I bought a fine 1840-O with drapery large O Seated Quarter for $16 BIN.
Real happy with the seller wanting instant gratification. Too bad the guy didn't know what he was selling.

I've had 2 or 3 BINs where I flipped them on eBay within 2 weeks for profit. But nothing crazy, just a few bucks profit.

Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.

  • I got a nice 45-S colorful Mercury MS-68 for $60 a while back....it was on for 12 minutes.

    OK, one more:

Two volume reference books on large cents, by Noyes, for under $100. Snagged 45 minutes after listing.

I've been looking to get a copy of that set, but it's long out of print, and very hard to find. And when the pair is offered, they sell for $200+

    Yay!

I've BINed a couple of 1838 Partial Drapery Dimes that I turned around and resold.

I actually saw that one right before you closed it. I think you'll do fine on it.

My best BIN snag was a 1941 Lincoln DDO for $3.99. It ran for over a day before I snared it. It came back from PCGS MS62BN. I also grabbed a 1943-S DDO Quarter in high-AU for under $40 and tripled my money a few weeks later.
