That is odd. I'd be concerned. All of the past feedback this buyer has received has been for stamps.

I had a bidder win all of my auctions last Sunday. He paid Monday morning, so that was pretty sweet.
  • you've got some nice things up for auction.
i bid on one of them... the guy has proxy's entered

You have over four days to go. I wouldn't be too concerned just yet.

  • Thanks Russ, thats something I hadn't thought about. It was just really strange. I'm not trying to make a living selling on ebay and wouldn't even call myself a wannabe. I'm no professional at this. So I was a bit conserned this morning because of all the crap you guys dredge up on Ebay.

  • If he wins and pays, great, if not file a non paying bidder to get your money back from Ebay. Case closed.

Just for grins. Maybe you got lucky and caught a Lotto winner that had to find a way to spend his winnings.
Or as Russ says you have four days to go don't worry until you have too.

That is weird, I find it strange that someone would be interested in all those items.

  • Steve I thought the same thing. But then again I bought those items over the past 2 years for my collections. Its weird and I'm praying for the best.

Not necessarily. You could rack up a few negs if you aren't careful.

  • I would be very concerned; if I didn't know the bidder. Like you I sell a few coins on E-Bay and have a low number of feedbacks, so a negative feedback can kill your selling on E-bay.

    Concerns are the bidder:
    1. has four feedbacks for stamps
    2. biggest purchase was $10.00
    3. bidder bid on all your auctions if won would cost over $600.00

If it was me I would e-mail the bidder to see if the bidder is serious or if someone hi jacked his account.
  • Light12, I saw that last night and was wondering how you would take the news. I have never sold anything on eBay but I puckered up a little when I saw the number “4”.

I think there is some good news. He has been a eBay member for about five months and the feedback he has is from four different people and all say he is a fast payer. The bad news is that he hasn’t left a single response for anyone.

  • I didn't know how to take the news and thought I would come here first. I am going to see what happens today and try to contact the bidder over the weekend. I am a bit nervous. Especially being new at this.

What's the risk? YOU can't lose money since buyer pays up front.

What is scary on ebay is when you have to send out money to a seller you are not 100% sure is legit, even if the FB says otherwise.
50% of the auctions I won (3 out of 6) in the past 2 months were all hijacked accounts of sellers with 100% FB. It is getting to be a real concern. The last one the guy nearly conned me. The check was in the mail and the real seller got to me in time to stop the check. This is getting real old ebay.

Looks fishy to me. I would try to email him just to make sure everything is legit.

Your trying to earn a living on eBay? With all the fraud on the bay, I would learn a new profession fast.

  • not trying to earn a living here. Just wanted to rid myself of a few things and start buying early commems, and a pattern or 2 over the next year. Just looking for some funds to start that. I prefer the present career check out the Specilized Technical Services link below. Its stressful, but I love it.

  • It certainly looks odd that one bidder would want all of those items. You could search ebay to see if he is bidding on any other sellers items. You could also e-mail him. If you still feel uncomfortable, you could always cancel his bids. That way he will either contact you asking why you cancelled him at which point you will possibly get an explanation for his bidding habits or at the very least, it will still leave your auctions active to allow other bidders to bid.

Great suggestion to e-mail the buyer.

Just let them know that you are not a dealer, and jsut concerned because you normally like to do business with folks with greater than X feedback. Let them know that everyone started with zero feedback, but with all the strnage things on e-bay, you were protecting both you and him (hijacked accounts).

At least he'll get the message you are watching your listing, and may just think it's more trouble than it's worth.

If he wins and doesn't pay, your are still out 3-4 weeks before you get everything cleeared up with E-Bay. You have to give him 7 days to pay, then wait 7 more days before you can file non-paying bidder (assuming he doesn't reply or admits an issue), then you cna relist, wait 7 more days to end the listing.....and so on. You get the picture.

    Better clear it up first.

    Good luck!!!

  • I made email contact with the bidder yesterday and today. She seems to be very new to ebay and the internet in general. I will definately keep an Eye on what happens if she wins. I am very uneasy with it. But the emails seem to be grandmotherly innocent. So I don't know what to think. Nothing is going anywhere until I have solid money in my bank account.

A second thought that came while I sweated and thought about this. You guys are much more savy than your average ebayer, would you think schill bidder if you were to see this on someones account, and then shy away. Just wondering. I've also been wondering if people might see one high bidder for all of them and not bid thinking this. Thanks guys. I am prayer for the best.

  • Light12,
The news is getting better! Your winning bidder has picked up another feedback point. He now has … 5.

Seriously, I think you are ok here. He looks like he pays fast, but it doesn’t look like he knows that it is a courtesy to leave feedback for others.
