WOW! Incredible luster on my new PEACE dollar. I need some expert grade opinions.

Just received this. The pics do not show the true luster..... I have been drooling over it since it came. I think the coin is under graded.
It also appears to have the same die crack as the VAM 2, just an earlier die state. I think I can see just a bit of doubling on the "E" in ONE.

She is definitely going in for crossover... Just can't decide whether to crack her out or not..

Help me decide please.....

Quite reflective luster... I like it!image
Edited to add: If you like the coin itself, the number on the slab is irrelevant.

  • If she's in a 3 holder.... CRACK!!!! Denver mint coins usually come VERY clean... this one does show a little chatter... My guess is that it's in a 4 holder..... yes?

    63, not expert.
  • I would guess 63 for the marks and such....but with the luster...have to go 64

I'd say 64 on that one, though not a Peace $ expert. Seems to me that coin is nicely struck and with good luster as you noted, just a little too much chatter for a 65.

That is a very very nice coin for the date! MS63.5!

That strike and luster may get it in a 65....Good luck! image

I agree with the "Chatter", but there are no serious problems with this coin and it exhibits, to me, acceptable Cartwheel luster for a branch mint coin, and a full strike.

    I'd give it a 65.

Great Luster but still a 64 tops. Looks like a lot of little hits here and there but definitely a nice looking Peace!
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

I would have to say its in a 63 holder. If you want it in a 64, you've got to crack it and cross your fingers!
  • I don't know much about the Peace dollars as of yet, but to me, every one is a beauty. With some coins, there is just something about them that does it for me. The Peace is one of those and would love to own one someday. Pretty coin.

I like the coin and will have to say 64, love the luster. But, please tell what is the actual grade and are you going to crack it out or not?

It is beautiful, really. The luster, eye appeal, and detail is all there. Very few bag marks, and they are only slight.
I normally would go along with the 64, but I have a feeling it is MS65. It really does look like it has great cartwheel effect, too.

I would NOT crack it out, and I would be tempted to pay for PRESIDENTIAL REVIEW to have THE EXPERT take a look, I really think Mr Hall ought to see it, especially NOW that PCGS is grading the VAM's

I like the coin and please do not drool on the slab image

oops, you said CROSSOVER.... so it's not in a PCGS slab...nevermind the presidential review then image
