Can you find what is very wrong . . .

in this auction? I don't mean the price. There is something very, very wrong with this auction.

The auction has a link to a business website, which is forbidden by ebay?

That may be. But what I see is more coin related.

It's not a 1900, but rather the much more common 1900H. NGC blew it.

...which isn't hard to do, with those small pics.

Ah. I know nothing of Canadian coinage but I do see the H now. Nice catch.

Very good coinpictures. The 1900 is about 5 times more valuable than a 1900-H. Either it is the wrong label or NGC did blow it. I sent them a message asking what is the real date of the coin being sold. I'll see if they answer.

    Don,

Don't tell me that you found this out after you bought it! Yikes! I wouldn't have seen the mintmark if I didn't know to look for it after reading the thread all the way through. That is scary.

I read the whole listing, including the "H" prominently displayed in the title, and this bit down in the description:

<< <i> This coin is still for sale yet currently at NGC for relabeling to apply the H to the 1900. >>

    So what's the prob?

    Roy,

When Don posted this topic last night, neither the "H" in the title, nor the "at NGC for re-labelling" disclaimer were there. The auction I saw then was quite different than it is now. I guess DLRC was made aware of their error, and corrected it.

I made DRLC aware of the error. This is the email I got from them today:

<< <i>it is an H, and its still for sale. However it has been sent off fro proper reholdering. >>

Heh. I notice that they didn't lower the price any, even after finding out it was the more common coin. That auction will get zero bids.

    From 2006 Krause:

    1900. Mintage: 1 Million. VG: $3.00, F: $6.00, VF: $10.00, XF: $15.00, MS60: $60.00, MS63: $250.00
    1900H. Mintage: 2.6 Million. VG: $2.00, F: $2.50, VF: $4.00, XF: $5.00, MS60: $22.00, MS63: $60.00

    Charlton (in Canadian dollars)

    1900. VG: $10.00, F: $15.00, VF: $25.00, XF: $45.00, AU: $90.00, MS60Brn: $150.00, MS63Rd/Brn: $500.00, MS65Rd: $4,000.00
    1900H. VG: $4.00, F: $5.00, VF: $7.00, XF: $10.00, AU: $25.00, MS60Brn: $75.00, MS63Rd/Brn: $100.00, MS65Rd: $750.00

(personally, I've always found Charlton to be optimistic, even after converting to U.S. dollars).

    That's a $100 coin, not a $475 coin...
