1990 Topps George Bush.

I was reading the article on the Bob Fisk collection in the recent SMR. Does anyone know how many of these cards got packed out or, for that matter, how many have been pulled from packs to date? How many were made or How many are actually in the hobby? image

The SCD Catalog says Topps produced a run of 100 "as a favor to President Bush" and that "at least a few of the cards were inadvertently included in packs". The last one I saw on e-bay sold for around $ 1000, and it was not in great shape.

I've heard the 100 number as well, but I didn't know any had been inserted into packs. I last saw one at the national in '98, and the seller wanted $1000 then, too.

Bob's on these boards - so he can tell you. I've heard the 100 number to - but it is obviously up in the air how many have actually made it to the hobby. I would probably suggest two dozen or so, tops.
I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.

I have no idea how many are in circulation, but I think the two dozen number feels about right. If there were 100, we'd see them pop up more often.

I might not be remembering correct, but I thought the one on eBay ended at $2,000.

Wouldn't the number actually be 132 printed since that is the standard uncut sheet size? 100 may have been given to Bush 41 and the rest put into packs. I saw one in Chicago at a small shop. The dealer pulled it from a pack.

    Past post about this card.

Bob, I remembered someone bought this card for a ridiculously low price on ebay. I'd forgotten it was you! Did you ever get it graded by a "real" company?

Champs is a real company. I bet they have desks and stamps and stationary and secretaries and all that other stuff that "real" companies have.

Actually, I'd love to get it graded by PSA, but I don't think they'd do it. Maybe I should give it a shot.

Anyone know of one for sale?
I am buying and trading for RC's of Wilt Chamberlain, George Mikan, Bill Russell, Oscar Robertson, Jerry West, and Bob Cousy!
Don't waste your time and fees listing on ebay before getting in touch me by PM or at gregmo32@aol.com !

I was wondering the same thing. I have never seen one for sale other than the links of closed auctions posted in this forum. Did they only slip into wax or have any been found in cello, rack, or vending?

The one I saw in Chicago came from a wax pack. Ironically he busted a lot of wax looking for the Thomas error. I think he wanted $200 for it.

Sure would be boring to open that 90 Topps wax to look for one lol.

Think of all those Ben McDonald Rookies you could pull! I hope the guy sold the Sosa's at the peak in 1998.
