Newbie Question

Pretty much a newbie when it comes to US coins, so some help required please.

There is an auction coming up here with quite a few US coins.

I'm looking for a high quality US coin (or two) for my collection, if you had to choose between the following, which ones and why?

Thanking you in advance

All MS65

1881-S $1
1886 $1
1904-O $1

1936 50c Columbia
1936 50c Norfolk (ICG MS66)
1937 50c Battle of Antietam (PCGS MS64)

1883 1c Indian Head (NGC PF64 BN)

1916-D 25c Barber (PCGS MS63)

Comments

  • I would go with 1916-D 25c Barber (PCGS MS63). Baber coinage is undervalued in my opinion.

    Thats tough...

I would go with one of the commems...becuase they tell stories of our history

yet for a true US coin, I would go with either the 81-S or the Proof Indian

If you're asking me, I would look strongly at the proof copper cause I like copper. That being said I wouldn't go after a PR 64BN unless it was really nice. Not all proofs are created equal.

To much depends on your monetary preferences. Some people like a variety, some large denominations such as the Morgans. Me, I am a small denomination person so I'd go for the Indian. You actually ever said what your collection consisted of making it more difficult to asertain a good suggestion as to which one to purchase. If your looking at all those and if the monetary situation isn't a situation, just buy them all.

    He's an Aussie, 100proof.

I would probably pick the Barber quarter or the proof Indian, depending on how they looked.

My collection consists of : Sovereigns, World Gold, Everything Else.

There is a gold $20 or two I'm eyeing off as well as these, but you know how it goes at auctions.

1886 $1 Morgan KM-110. Superb lustrous UNC. Slabbed PCGS MS65

    I like the 1916-D Barber.

Nice, uncirculated, branch mint (Denver) Barber coinage, and the older PCGS slab make it my pick.

    "Barbers" are hot right now.

    Hope this helps.
