Anybody collect old auction catalogs

The reason I ask is I am working on a very old house and I found a Stack's auction catalog from 1951
and a Coins and Currency Catalog from Hollinbreck coin co from 1958 this one has prices in it of what the coin are expected to bring
Looking at some of the prices I about sh-t my pants 1854-O $3 gold for $75.00 1942 proof set for $40.00 1957 proof set $3.00
The house was owned by a gent that use to collect. The catalogs where sitting up in a second floor closet on top of a shelf that somene had lined they where under the lining The house is a total demo inside all walls are coming out along with ceilings
Maybe he dropped some coins image

I suppose that there are collectors of everything . The Red Book has been listing Old Red Book prices in their pages . A classic would be the Stacks catalog for the 1933 Double Eagle a few years back . Probably the only auction catalog to list only one coin. There have been other auction houses listing collections of famous (numismatic)people in the past . Examples are , Eliasberg , John Ford , William Miller collectiion of Charlotte and Dahlonega gold, Jerry Benson with finest known gems , also many universities and state governments looking to unload their prized possesions . The list goes on . Some auction catalogs are filled with consignments of a multitude of sellers . Then there are those with just one individual or entity , which would command better prices

I've got a library and a half full of them.

Sounds like you made a nice find.image Are the prices hand written in the catalogue?

If you don't want the books- send em to me- I need to read up on things from the past. For me - it passes time at work.
