A favor...

JamminJ was kind enough to point me in the direction of the German greysheet equivalent, Moneytrends.

Is it literally a price list like greysheet, or is it a full-fledged magazine like Coinage, or a newspaper like World Coin News? Does it rotate listings or have quarterly/biannual supplements like greysheet, or is it complete with every issue?

Where can I obtain a sample without subscribing? I'm not opposed to subscribing (depending on the cost), but would like to actually read a copy first rather than subscribing sight-unseen.

Doesn't even have to be current (within the last year would be nice). If someone has scanned in a copy into PDF form, that would suffice.

Not sure where to look.

Thanks in advance.

Depending on how polished your German is, their website might be useful.

You mean, depending on how nonexistent my German is? image

From what I gather, they make the magazine available online as PDFs, but it would cost me 77 Euros to even look at one. $100 to just view a copy is a tad rich for me. image

Money Trend is a (usually 200 page) magazine (published in Vienna Austria) with numismatic articles & news, upcoming auction & show schedules, dealer ads, etc., as well as values for German coins from 1871 on (also Austria & Switzerland). It is published 11 times annually (July & August are combined). One year subscriptions to the USA are $146 ($66 of which is priority shipping). Last year it was 146 Euros, but this year it is $146...I like that!

Since values seldom change monthly, an occasional copy would suffice to keep current. I subscribe, but I share the cost (and alternating issues) with a friend. If you will PM me with your mailing address, I'll send you a fairly recent copy.

I inquired about this one as well, as it contains the current Swiss prices too. For the moment, I'm waiting for an equivalent guide of which Mac promised to send me a copy. If only to see the differences with Krause.

Can you tell me what publication you are refering to? I also have extra copies of MoneyTrend and if anyone wants one just PM me with address. I wish I could sell coins for some of the prices in MoneyTrendimage-3Mark

Thanks to Preussen for hooking me up with a back issue of MT!!

Any sage words of advice as to what area(s) that MT may be unrealistically high or low?

For that matter, the same for Krause re: German material?

Grading standard differences notwithstanding, are there any areas where the German (or European) market's demand or pricing is radically different from the U.S.?

For the non-German speaker, are there any potential pitfalls to be wary of or assumptions to avoid making with respect to MT?

[Gotta love all these questions... I'm starting to sound like GCL image]

Oh, and I want a pony.

Hi, haven't seen this post before, but copies of MT (maybe Numispost) can be obtained from the ANA's Resource Library (if you are a member).....at least they used to have it.

Prices are largely retail and probably do not fluctuate that much (most of the variance is due to exchange rates). However, above the 64-65-ish band of pricing most dealers/collectors will add a small premium for the extra quality which is of course, nothing like the ranges in US coinage.

I'll trade the Swiss pages of Numispost with anyone who has the same for MT (good for comparison sake). Numispost is just a smaller format than MT with the same ads for shows/dealers, etc. with several articles all of which are in German.

Good answers Pruessen.image I could see a major opus breaking out if someone answered all of coinpictures questions. I will answer one of the questions. The 1914 Prussia 3 mark is low in both Krause and MT. In fact, I will pay $300 for a PCGS or NGC MS66 and more if above this grade and I will pay $500 for a PR66.-3Mark

3Mark is correct, there are always slip-ups, regardless which list or guide you're using.

In my opinion the prices in MT are a bit too high for the majority of coins, especially in comparison with the prices in Jäger or MünzenRevue, which I use mainly.

A first, I was correct on somethingimage I guess I need to start ordering a new Jaeger every year and quit spliting the MT with Preussenimage-3Mark
