Stamp

Hello,

Can anybody tell me what these us-stamps are? Can't find any info about them in the databases on the internet about us-stamps.

Thanx,

Henk

  • Hi Henk. I have seen these and have seen them listed somewhere. Did you cut them off the envelopes? I'm pretty sure they are the pre-paid stamped envelopes from yester-year. You can still get them at the post office. Obviously, the "stamps" are different. The one on the left has a "feather" cancel.

They are called "cut squares" and are envoples cut down.
  • The Scott's specialized catalogue has a complete section devoted to envelopes. The ones in your scan appear to be more common but there are a number of Die varities and a couple of the varities are less common.
  • Ha the mystery-stamp is actually an enveloppe! That explains why I couldnt find it.
We inherited a collection of stamps, so I didn't know where they come from.

Thanks for all the input. I a clue where to search. (scotts specialized catalogue)
