John: I'd guess that it's mint state -- but either way she's a beauty!! Please describe how she looks in person now that you've received her, and what happens if you decide to get her graded.
Do you typically do OK purchasing raw coins off of E-Bay??

Interesting. There the strike is awesome. Update us when you get the coin in hand. I don't know about the series, but there does seem to be a partial wire rim.

I'd go with MS. A slight gleam of mint luster on the obv at 2:00. Would be a bit leery about the possibilith of env damaged surfaces on this raw coin but at $400 I'd take the shot too. Could be a MS63 or even MS64. Let us know.
I'm always a bit leery about those who are grading for their dad's, don't know anything about coins, but know enough to claim the coin looks perfect to them.
Nice seated half either way. I have a question. If you submit the coin to PCGS as a MS will they correct it and holder it as a PR if they determine you sent the submission in wrong?
Having the coin in hand, it is most certainly a proof, which I suspected when I was bidding on it. The coin is a completely original and virgin. Beautiful rainbow toning with substantially muted mirrors, especially on the reverse. The toning has not progressed to damage, which I was concered about when bidding. I grade the coin PF62 shot 63. I will let you all know what it comes back as.
I do have some luck with buying raw on ebay...it is difficult though and I send alot of coins back. And, you have to feel comfortable grading raw coins...

Judging by the stars and the denticles it looks to be a business strike
