1865 Nickle Three Cent Piece <> Need some "grade" opinions please : )

I have no idea what this coin might be valued at, and I know THIS is the place to get some very knowledgeable opinions on what it might grade, and the possible value.
Thank you in advance for any input!
Dave

First off, the seller stated that "In AU condition PCGS Values this coin at 58.00 Plus". IMO it ain't AU - not even close. A terrible pic to make a decision from, but looks like a substantial hit right of the date - maybe a gouge?

Again, IMO, a VF coin at best (can't truly tell from lack of detail on scan or coin... A $10 to $15 dollar coin on a bidboard, no more.

The scan is tough - not enough detail. Most of the hair detail is worn; I'd agree that VF would be about right. Not sure if the marks are clashes or damage. Not AU...

The seller says he can't grade (he needs to picture to do it for him), he also can't spell Nickel.

I concur with BlindedByEgo--to the extent that it is possible to grade the coin by looking at the picutre, the coin does not appear to be AU. Plus it has a few gouges or dings--one to the right of the date (as BBE noted), one near the top if the second I on the reverse, and one near the bottom part of the third I on the reverse.

I really like 3CNs. I think they are cute coins, especially in MS. But I wouldn't be in a hurry to buy the particular coin the seller is vending on eBay. 1865 is the most common 3CN and I think there may well be others coming down the turnpike in the future that don't have the somewhat distracting dings.

Thanks to everyone for their input! I knew if anyone could help, you folks could! I've delt with this seller before (bought from AND sold to), and even though he can't spell "nickel," I know first hand he's a good, honest person (who IS new to the hobby), so THAT wasn't ever a concern. My main concern was bidding too much on a coin that I (nor HE) knew nothing about (and I'm good at that).... THANKS AGAIN guys, have a great week!
