  • Even kept the same description word for word. Very original.............
  • Why would PSA authenticate a trimmed card without noting "TRIMMED" on the flip? That makes no sense at all. To me, AUTHENTIC means original and unaltered.

Why would anyone ever trim such a nice card?

It is almost impossible to tell, IMO, that the card is trimmed. It appears to fit in the holder with hardly any space on the sides of the card. They did not square up the corners too well for a trim job.

prolly trimmed years ago before grading.

    Good for you.
  • How many times do you think that card has been submitted for grading? Likely 10 or 15 times I would be willing to bet.

Look at the flip again. Middle left side it sates "trimmed"

Won't that still count as a PSA 3 equivalent in the registry?

Nice looking card to be honest, and at least you know it's real...bummer it's been trimmed. Will still get a good price though.

Interesting that ol juanfan claims he had it slabbed himself at the Chicago National and was "shocked" that it was trimmed. What do you think, is juanfan lying, or is it a different card?

Yes - he's lying - he's using the same pic as when he purchased it on ebay. He bragged to everyone on the ebay boards about how he was going to crack it and resubmit - probably to another company - how much money he'd make, etc etc etc.

As was said earlier, he has quite a network of shills.

image I guess that's why I don't use the handle 'eagleeyekid'.
  • And the fact that this auction is PRIVATE will of course make his shill bidding easier and impossible to detect.

I would have used a PRIVATE auction as well. That is one fantastic looking card, and a big time dealer could win it w/o anyone knowing.

If that card was in a PSA 5-6 holder, would anyone know the difference?

  • Interesting that the revised sale went all the way thru and then the guy got NARU'd.
He also took the bait and answered a lot of questions like how many people did ya show

1967and 1973 Topps baseball wantlists (any condition) welcome. Once had the #14 ATF 1967 set. Yet another collector like skylaneflyer, gimel1 who made it to the completion of 1967 only to need the money more than the company of 609 close friends.
Looking for oddball Norm Cash and Cleon Jones stuff, and 1956 team cards

  • << <i>Won't that still count as a PSA 3 equivalent in the registry? >>

Yes! I have a trimmed card on a registry set and it's counted as a 3.
  • How can you tell that in the latest sale that the winning bidder was NARUed?

  • On the right edge starting at the half way point and going down it looks wavey to me so my guess is this is where they butchered it.

You clearly do not know juanfan's reputation for shilling it up......... image

  • << <i>How can you tell that in the latest sale that the winning bidder was NARUed? >>

he is talking about the winner of the card back in August.
  • My guess is that the card probably has has someother form of alteration aside from trimming and PSA mislabled it. The card does not appear trimmed.
