Is this worth anything???

Is this worth anything?? I dont have any foreign books that detail this coin. I beleive this is an 8 real coin??

    No, it's a 2 reale coin from Mexico City. I have no idea what it's worth, but it looks authentic and has a nice old patina.

  • A pretty nice Spanish Colonial 2 reale-- pretty commonly used in Colonial America as silver coinage. Would really be a standout coin if there were more bust detail, but the 2 reale coins circulated a lot so you don't find many with bust detail. Still, overall very nicely preserved-- on ebay I could see it bringing $25-$45

  • very nice - I collect these and the earlier pillar types. The 8 reales were crown sized coins - this one was considered the US quarter, before they came up with the quarter... 2 bits at the time.

    Drastically undervalued considering their history in US circulation, but I agree with the value above.
