What are GSA CC Dollars going for these days?

ttownttown Posts: 4,472 ✭✭✭
I'm thinking of collecting GSA silver dollars. My dealer here wants $180 for an 83 or 84CC they look to be in MS63 condition (MS62 worst case), is that a fair price or should I shop? I'm also wondering what I'll have to pay for the 81 and 85 CC. Should I wait? Are these at a top right now?

Thanks

Rick

$180 is about ave retail for the common CC's the 81 and 85 will be $500-$600 easy. As to a top well if anyone could predict that thay'd be rich.

I guess the real question should have been is how much have these run up in the last 3 years? It seems there's been a slight dip recently, not much but there.

Thanks, that's a lot and I usually don't chase coins but perfer to wait until they come back down to earth on a down cycle. It seems the 85CC is bringing more than the 81CC at present.

Anyone else, you know how this hobby works and your view are wanted.

I've collected and followed Gsa CC Morgans for quite some time. They seem to usually inch their way up slowly over time.
I will say this, I am just a collector but whenever I've sold them I've never lost money. Not saying you won't lose, just
my experience. Be sure to get the black box and numbered card with the coin. Many dealers will say this is no big deal.
Until you sell to them, then they will want to low-ball you for the missing box and card.image

I agree do not buy any without the box and cert. the suckers who sent them off to be regarded to PCGS LOOSE THE ATHENTICITY OF THE COIN ITSELF WHICH DROPS COIN DOWN 45%. The NGC's are graded in the original holders and are sent back with nice blue seal for the grade and inside the box and cert. who can go wrong with that ? My coins will bring the retail price of $490.00 when sold. The really nice one's are already snatched up but if you come across a nice un-toned Frosty coin grab it....my opinion!
