I thought NearMint had a chance with the 68 FB set

But alas it looks like he will be perma-MOSHED!

Loves me some shiny!

Yep, looks like MOSH now has an unsurmountable lead.

Wonder where he got all those PSA 9's from image

Anyway carew4me, these days there's no shame in owning the # 2 set. Congrats on your achievement. image

Wonder where he got all those PSA 9's from hmmmmm. I beleive it weas Rick at MintState, right? image

Thanks. My goal is all 8's and any bargain basement 9's I can grab when no one is looking!

I am happy with whatever "ranking" that strategy provides.

Yeah, looks like it. I've been spending my money on other sets recently. Maybe I can sneak into the top 3 someday.

  • BY THE WAY I saw some real sharp looking 1968 psa 8,s on ebay seller was RANGER_51 I think imageimageimage
  • That Ranger_51 is a top noch guy too.
Good shipping and service. I don't mind paying extra just to do business with him becuase he is reliable with top notch stuff.

  • Guys,
Stop thinking of MOSH as a one year race. He is spending a ridiculous amount of money that I'm not sure makes sense as a long term investment but is very effective at short term victory. I have a long term collection. It will probably be here for a long time unless I decide to sell as a living. I don't think of this year, think of down the road.
For example, Marks Red Backs will eventually be the top 63 Fleer FB set. He has most of the 10's and pays top $ for them (I see to that), but he will find the 9's at some point and without the 10's you cannot long term stay on top. There is a 64 Topps set climbing at this point with GPA 1+ higher than everyone else, he is in the middle now, but if he holds it together, it will be very hard to top. He is paying double or triple what they should go for ........ but he is getting the cards.
I believe that MOSH started the FB several years ago buying a 61 Nucard from Qualitycards. It was the top set. But look now at that set and he not even competitive. His next venture was 67 Philly and Skinsfan ate him up there. Others of his "older" sets are vulnerable. As he moves on to other sets and eventually BB, he will be spread thinner and thinner and have less time to devote to these.
Davalillo was similar for some time. He has been very competitive in the beginning but as the resources spread out to go for a hundred sets (and a tremendous collection), he has been pushed a few spots lower by the specialists with sharper focus.
Right now he may be the hare. But smart money is on the tortoise.

There is a difference between Davalillo and MOSH. Davalillo is assembling his sets in PSA 8 and MOSH 's goal is the highest quality set possible.
  • Guys-
I have to agree with Fuzz on this. While MOSH has widespread interests and deep pockets he can't stay on top of everything long term. As long as there are specialists (in my case vintage Charger team and player sets) like us who can maintain a narrow focus and are willing to commit the cash to the cause we will prevail. I've gone head-to-head with MOSH on several high ends and rarely lose. Sure, it can seem like crazy amounts for low pop commons at times but thats the competitive buzz that keeps us fighting.

Now, if only I could by a win for the Bolts against the Birds tomorrow.....image
ALWAYS LOOKING FOR HIGH GRADE VINTAGE SAN DIEGO CHARGERS, ESPECIALLY OL' LANCE!!!
  • Once Dave S. posts his '69 FB MOSH will be a permanent Number 2 at best.
