1984 donruss factory sets.

Has anyone had any experience w/ them: good centering? bad centering? not a good buy??

  • the cards are smaller than the one's in the packs.
Running an Ebay store sure takes a lot more time than a person would think!
  • Someone else correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the cards in mid-80's Donruss Factory sets generally have ever so slightly rounded corners.
  • The factory sets have a few issues..there tend to be cards that are cut shorter than the rest...if graded, they tend to come back ungraded with "doesn't meet minimum size requirement".
They also can have some rounding of the corners..this is mostly the first few cards infront of..and the back of the wrapped cellophane.

Centering will be an issue whether it's a set or wax box..

I guess the only advantage is...you know you're getting a complete factory set...if you were to open a wax box...collation can be all over the place....if you know who sold it to you you can cut down the probability that the box was tampered with.

So it tends to be a toss up....we all want that box/set with the 50/50 flawless Mattingly PSA 10 candidate....I've been ripping both for years....and I'm still searching...lol

    Good luck..

Hmm, if they just routinely dismiss all factory set cards as "undersized", wouldn't that slaughter the factory set market? I'd think that the graders would be able to ID a factory set card, and it's not like factory sets are uncommon and unusual items.

I've got a 1985 Donruss Puckett (from a factory set) that I'll be sending in next week, I guess we'll see what they do with it.

  • not all the cards are undersized....most are fine...but every now and then you'll get a block out of the set that are short..
It happens in vending cases too. Cards can even be over sized
A hair shorter or larger in any direction and they get lost...
I agree, if it's "factory" undersized..they should be able to tell..but then again if they slab they..they sway back and fourth in the holder and get damaged and therefore won't truly represent the grade shown.

It's a crap shoot either way
