    I know you can still buy batteries like that around. I wonder if you can buy those type anymore? Or you would have to
    make a new box using new parts and batteries to make the same volatage output?

    I am guessing mid 60's. I built a Heathkit MD in 1969 (my first detector). It was when the "TR" (transmitter/receiver) detectors were first coming out. I believe the one for sale is a "BFO" (Beat Frequency Oscillator) model and pre-dates the "TR" detectors
