Who's gonna win the Cardinals / Astros game tonight and why?

I have to go with the Cardinals because they have the momentum and they're back at home.

Comments

  • Cardinals because they are the better team.
  • Astros because they are the better team.
  • Cardinals are certainly the better team, but if I were the Cardinals, I would not want to face Oswalt tonight. I think in the Oswalt vs. Mulder matchup, Oswalt has the edge. But then again, Cardinals are at home and have everything to lose, so I expect them to pull it out.

Plus, if they win, it means one more game that I can watch in the garage while enjoying a cigar LOL image

I hate to cop out, but I have no idea. When the Astros went up 4-2 in the 7th, I thought it was over. Then - Mr Pujols steps up to the plate!

This is the Astros chance tonight - and Oswalt could really set himself apart with a strong game. If the Cards win tonight, they win in 7.

I can't help but think the Astros are done.

They are going to be emotionally flat for this one...to be that close to the team's first ever world series appearance to have it yanked would kill anyone's morale. It goes to a game 7, you could see some real fireworks.

Also, I hope this shows those media 'experts' that good, fun, exciting baseball OUTSIDE Boston and NY can draw big numbers...hopefully next year we'll see some diversity in programming the nationally televised games.

Cardinals because I want to see it go 7 games. Other than that its a coin flip, whichever pitcher or pitchers do the best and no way of "knowing" at this point who or whom that will be.

Noting better than the 7th game of a league series or world series, the teams have battle each other for 6 games to a draw and now this is it. The tension is always palpable. image

As a fan of baseball but not either of these two teams, I have this to say...

I now think the Cardinals will win, because even though they are down 2-0 through three innings, the strike zone for Mulder is about twice the size the one Oswalt is getting.

Or maybe I'm seeing things and subconscienciously rooting for the Astros/underdog, I usually do.

    SPOILER

    now they are down 4-1
  • Told ya so!

  • George Steinbrenner must just love this one: Clemens, Pettitte, Contreras, and El Duque (Orlando Hernandez), four of the Yankees 2003 starters in the World Series

    George Steinbrenner?

Who cares right now about George Steinbrenner, or the Yankees! Jeez, the world does not revolve around them! Tonight is the night for the Astros and their fans to celebrate - and this thread should remain about Game 6 of the NLCS only.

  • I am sure George is not happy and wishes he had Pettitte and Clemens back.
  • I think the Astros will win because it already happened.
