Handcut cards rejected as trimmed??

I just got the grades for some cards i submitted under the '72-'92 special. I can more or less understand the grades I received except for these below. By definition, aren't "hand cut" cards supposed to be trimmed? For some reason, PSA decided the '75 and '76 Hostess cards were "hand cut" (worthy of being slabbed) while the '77 and '79 were "trimmed" (and rejected).

I cut the cards in the same manner using a paper cutter i bought at Office Depot so it's not as though i used an exacto blade to cut the '77 and '79 cards and got a wobbly cut.

Has anyone else had this sort of experience with hand cut cards?

That seems kind of ironic to call a card trimmed and not graded after all they are all trimmed in some way. Scans? I have no idea why PSA would do this, but someone on here has probably had this happen.

That's definitely a customer service issue; I'd call Cosetta now before the cards get shipped. Good luck.

The grades were posted and the cards were shipped out yesterday. I will hopefully get them by the end of the week. I'll post scans when they arrive.

In another bizarre twist, despite the fact all the cards in the submission were of Steve Garvey, for some reason they decided that Steve changed his name to Don Kessinger on one of them. It looks like they got the brand/year right but i don't know how they can screw up the name like that. I wonder if this is a case of bored PSA employees trying to amuse themselves during the work day...

I was under the impression that if a handcut card was cut too far inside the lines, it would be holdered and simply labeled AUTHENTIC. I think it is ridiculous for them to take your grading fees like that, you should absolutely be given vouchers for future submissions for each of them that they did not holder.

By the way, what did the cuts look like on the cards? Were the dashes showing on all 4 sides?

I sent in Panels and individual cards that i personally cut except for the 76', and not one had a problem getting graded. I am still waiting for the Panels to be added to the Master Set. This is why i do not invest in CLCT, because of stupid stuff like this that PSA continually keeps doing to it's valued customers.

I am trying to use a 3rd party picture hosting site for the first time....not sure if this is going to work....

Here are the pics (hopefully) of the handcut Hostesss cards that I sent in for grading. All 4 cards were submitted at the same time and listed sequentially on the form. 2 were slabbed and 2 were rejected as trimmed. What do you guys think?

PSA and I do not see eye to eye when it comes to these hand cut issues. I have tried a few times to get the 88 box bottom Ryan in for grading and it has been rejected 3 times? First off there is only 2 black lines on the Ryan, right and bottom border . The other two are just white from the outside of the panel. I have cut it outside the two black lines and the width of the black lines in the white part. Rejected for no holder available. I also have cut one with the black line completely showing on both borders and the measurment of 2.5 x 3.5, again rejected for no holder available? I just gave up and came to the conclusion that its not worth the frustration or time or money to even bother. PSA should have some sort of guidelines for such issues after all the cards were intendend to be cut on the lines not outside the lines so why they would reject one that doesn't have the dashed line is dumb in my book! That would be like them rejecting a 79 Topps card because the printers line were not completely showing on the front, ok maybe not that extreme but you get my point!

I have the same questions, mainly regarding their slabbing of autographed cards. I have a Lyman Bostock autographed 1978 SSPC card that was hand-cut (rather poorly). (1978s, unlike 1975s, were distributed as 9-card team sheets. They were never "professionally" cut as far as I know.) I just want the card slabbed and marked "authentic". According to PSA's standards a card must be unaltered and the autograph legit to be slabbed. Well, what if the card, as in my case, was only distributed in such a way that it could only be hand-cut? Should I trust PSA to know enough about this card or should I contact someone there before sending it in? From these posts, there's just too much inconsistency in grading standards for hand-cut cards.

I had 7 cards rejected for "no holder available" even though they're all standard size cards that come from sets that already have at least one card that appears in the pop lists. I didn't want to waste any time or money sending in cards that would be rejected so i checked the obscure cards vs. the pop list. Did it help? Not really. I also had 3 different '81 Permagraphics (plastic credit card like) cards that i bought from Renata Galasso in 1981 rejected as "unauthorized reprint." Does that mean they were always unauthorized or that someone reprinted these cards years later and PSA is rejecting all of them on acct of the fraud?
