No offense meant, but my late Dad always warned me to look out for people who called themselves "honest", or who started a sentence by saying "I'm going to be honest with you", meaning that unless they expressed that caveat they were lying through their teeth.

Hello,
I read that I should introduce myself. I'm a female, never collected coins before except for some wheat pennies and I was given a nickel with a buffalo on it. I collected stamps when I was a girl scout, that that about it. My father recently passed (1 month) and I found some old coins in his safe. There are some silver and gold. I'm not interested in selling them, I just would like to know what they are worth. I figure I'll see what they are worth and lock them back in the safe. The company I work for recently relocated me to Texas, so I will see one of the coin dealers there when I get back. I've received some useful information from this site like: don't clean the coins, don't touch them except on the sides, don't polish, etc. I'll make sure I carry them on the plane when I board instead of shipping them with my clothes in baggage. It's ok to PM me or send me a email regarding the coins that I have. Thank you,

first of all, sorry for the loss of your father. If you post a description of the coins, I'm sure that the knowledgeable people of this forum will help you to identify them and price them better than a local dealer would have, that's just my opinion of course. Welcome to the forum.
