1972 OPC Baseball

Has anyone recently cracked a box of '72 OPC baseball? I was curious as to your results? Is the same olde OPC "rough-cut, off-centered, diamond-cut, qualifiers, etc.", that I've come to expect with 70s opc baseball, also "the norm" with 1972 OPC wax?

Figured with @ $45 "SMR pricetag" for '72 Topps commons, I'd better "pull-the-trigger" on three 1972 OPC PSA 9s (With shipping, my average price was: $16.07 ea.). There is such a "huge disparity" between '72 Topps and '72 O-Pee-Chee PSA populations, ...its crazy!

1972 Topps graded by PSA: 77,982 (12,854 PSA 9s - 908 PSA 10s)
1972 O-P-C graded by PSA: 1,653 (218 PSA 9s - 10 PSA 10s)

1972 O-PEE-CHEE TOM SHOPAY #418 PSA 9 1/1

1972 O-PEE-CHEE OSCAR GAMBLE #423 PSA 9 1/2

1972 O-PEE-CHEE TITO FUENTES #428 PSA 9 1/1

1972 OPC Series II baseball boxes are *readily* available. I think since there are only two series for OPC that year; also - there does seem to be a rather abundance of these boxes, packs relative to other OPC issues of the 1970s. Your prices are really good. I would say that most of what I've seen from this issue is in better shape than other OPC issues from the era. Frank Bakka is the expert on 1972 OPC's. I would suggest contacting him.

I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.
  • '72, '73 and '75 seem to be the most available OPC years before '77.
