    That's pretty sad that they are trying to make excuses. If he feels bad for his performance and what he gets paid, then he should either donate half the money of the contract to charity, or just come out and say, I have a good regular season, but suck in the playoffs.

    Unfortunately everyone in New York will buy that lame excuse. Too bad for the Yankees he could not perform like Bret Farve did when he lost his father. (I think it was his father a year or two ago).

    Some people cannot draw strength from tragedy like Farve or Clemens. They just wilt with it. This is not a knock on ARod per say, just a fact that people react differently when there are other events in their lives that they can't cope with.
