    Boy, that reminds me a lot of the 1944-S nickel I got in change this month at the Farmer's Market in Vancouver, WA. I bought some peaches and noticed an older looking nickel in my change. Got excited when I saw the mint mark up on high. This is the first silver nickel I've ever got in change and only the second silver coin ever, the other being a 1964 quarter a few years ago. Last time I got a '40s nickel must've been in the '70s when I was a kid. Thanks for posting (and for reading this one).
