Where is Spammy?
So basically my kid won't be able to go to college, but at least I'll have a set where the three most expensive cards are of a player I despise ~ CDsNuts

I would prefer it to be
"who's you da-ddy"
Just clarifiying
Where are those two anyway?
<< <i>Since it's been a week of abject immaturity here on the Sports Talk board - don't ya love it - I was thinking more like "Spammy and Skippy sitting in a tree..."

Shouldn't it go something more like:
'spammy/nyyankfan/votethurman and lou sitting in a tree'?
If Gemmy has been booted...you're gonna miss him.
He has been somewhat of a 'focal' point here for as long as I can remember.
If his threads were ignored, he would eventually have gone away on his own. He does add a bit of entertainment.
I remember one saturday nite where he plastered the sportscard forum with odd threads.
It was kind of funny - I guess HE was also "plastered!"

Good riddance to him and his multiple personalities.
<< <i>If his threads were ignored, he would eventually have gone away on his own. >>
Sorry Mike, but I don't agree. A lot of them were ignored, and they still kept coming.
I will miss one thing though - I am certain he jinxed the Yanks with all of those threads, now who will step up and wave the Yankee curse flag?
Mike - I think this is the first time ever that you have been incorrect. Gemmy no doubt is a sports fan and did sometimes bring up some good points. But it was all overshadowed by the incessant, annoying repetitive posts. Of course Gemmy's reply always was, "you don't have to read them." Gemmy didn't get it and he probably still might not get it. His spamming is almost the exact same type of annoyance as spam e-mail. Sure, e-mail spammers can say the same thing that, "you don't have to read them."
Just saw this on Yahoo news. Maybe Gemmy knows this guy? - LOL
FBI Raid Shuts Down Suspected Spammer Sun Oct 16, 6:28 PM ET
WEST BLOOMFIELD, Mich. - A man described as one of the nation's leading senders of spam says an FBI raid on his home office has halted his e-mail operation.
Warrants unsealed last week show that a September raid on Alan M. Ralsky's home in a Detroit suburb included the seizure of financial records, computers and disks.
"We're out of business at this point in time," Ralsky said. "They didn't shut us down. They took all our equipment, which had the effect of shutting us down."
Terry Berg, the top deputy in the Detroit U.S. attorney's office, declined to comment.
Ralsky, 60, has said that he has 150 million or more e-mail addresses, and he has been a target of anti-spam efforts for years.
Verizon Communications Inc. sued him in 2001, saying he shut down its networks with millions of e-mail solicitations. He settled, promising not to send spam on its networks.
A federal law that took effect last year bans use of misleading subject lines and the sending of commercial e-mail messages that appear to be from friends. It also bans use of multiple e-mail addresses or domain names to hide senders' identities.

Sometimes irony goes over my head too...I was being facetious when I said you will miss Gemmy.
I agree he has his good moments - and yes, if I had to endure his constant 'yankee spamming' - I would probably rip my eyes out so I couldn't see the screen!LOL
I hope things get more normal and there's a new sense of peace. But rest assure, there's always someone out there will to fill the void.

I'm an idiot?
Come on now...if you think spammy was welcome here, you're seriously mistaken.
How much more productive have the threads been here since he left? How many more people are participating in discussions since he left? How many different types of threads are there (instead of every third being something inane about the yankees).
What they don't have, is the right to voice it over and over and over and over again (a la spammy mode). Does any messageboard really need 10 new topics started per day about the same topic? Does any message board need to have one, loud, self-centered and selfish poster bury everyone else's posts?
And productive? No, it's not a business, but having good conversations about a wide variety of topics (Instead of one poster hogging the front page with all of his threads) does make for much more productive discussions.
