Why was the Notre Dame Rally on ESPN?

Just curious...didn't see it live, saw highlights, basically looked like ND rolling out everyone they could get in there to try to get the crowd amped up.
Why was this on ESPN? Seems out of place, seems pretty self-serving....I guess if you have enough money, you, too can get your team's rally on ESPN?
