OT Bad Day

My, I am glad this one is almost over. One of my Cats took ill this week and deteriorated , so this morning I drove her to the vet. Got half way there and the Harmonic balancer shattered and broke the timing chain. Got a taxi and made it to the vets only to have him tell me that the poor cat had 8 lives already gone and the last one was only days away because of stomach cancer.

Got the car towed back home and disassembled the front end of the engine and removed all the metal parts including a broken timing chain and cover, and water in the oil. $804 later the order was totaled up and sent off to California to The Original Part Group for delivery as quickly as possible. Sure hope they don't need to backorder anything. 66 Pontiac parts are not just laying around everywhereimage

That's a real downer, having lost two cats to cancer myself i know what that's like. One had kidney cancer and was put down not long after diagnosis. Diagnosed a few days before Christmas, put down New Years Eve 2002. Her brother developed a tumour in the nasal cavity and had to be put down back in May. It's not nice, but there's not alot that can be done about it. I'm afraid.

The car trouble is a double blow. I hope tomorrow works out better for you.

The cat is laying quietly in the bedroom , Doc gave me some medicine to get the water off her lungs. She can hardly drink water without trying to throw it up, How am I supposed to get that medicine to stay down. If she makes it through the weekend it will be a miracle. I just hope she goes without a lot of pain. It is one of my lynx point siamese and she is 14 years old. I had them live a lot longer , but 14 is getting up there. Thanks for the concern jester.

4 speed car ? The Lemans are a cool looking car. Personally I like them better than a Goat.

    Sorry about the cat.

I am sorry... but at least you own a '66 Ponitac... that is more than I can say... even though I once owned a 59 Olds 2 dr 98 that was very cool... and I mean very cool.

Experience the World through Numismatics...it's more than you can imagine.

  • Sorry about the cat. Water in the oil. MMMMM, better check for a cracked head or blown head gasket.

The water pump assembly is part of the timing chain cover, when the timing chain broke it fractured the bottom of the WP.

    Thanks for the help though.image

Be there when it's time for her to go. Be there and be aware. Screw the Pontiac, you have enough money. image

I've never heard of a "harmonic balancer"! image

Is that part of the same assembly as the freem drive manipulator?
