PCGS MS65 if luster is good; otherwise, MS64.

I'd have to agree with JC on that one.....can't see it in a "newer" (8-number) PCGS 66 holder.

  • Coin is a NGC MS66, you all are only confirming what I feel. I believe 65 on a very good day at PCGS, and MS64 on any other day.
Another lesson of buying other than PCGS coins. Coin bought sight unseen cheap, so not a loss at all.
Last ten trys at trying to crossover any coin, I am at 1 for 10. This one I did not even bother sending in.
    Thanks all for the input!~

It seems to have excellent luster for the date though the marks are deep. MS-65 wouldn't
be that surprising though I'd not predict it.

Clean fields, luster looks decent, but the mrk on the check kills any chance of 66.

If it had much better luster and something else neat (like really cool toning) it MIGHT go 66.

If you haven't bought it, run. If you ahve hopefully you got it for a good price.

  • Actually here is another one that I am considering purchasing, but would like more photographs. Current grade MS67 NGC.
I belive it may make it to PCGS, but the price is hefty?

Some people don't mind the planchet scratches around the periphery on the left. Though they
can get high grades with these I find them very unattractive. To each his own. Otherwise this
is a superb example of the date.

  • There in lies the conundrum. The MS67 is $1K, I believe it may cross to PCGS and if it does, book is $3200.00. If it does
not cross book is $160.00. Big difference.
    Thanks

I wouldn't gamble on PCGS crossing a 71-D in from an NGC 67.....I have had a few that I thought were a "lock"
crossover and struck out every time. I have a friend that has done the same.
Bottom line is PCGS has gotten incredibly stingy on the 71-D in 67. I bought mine in May of 2003...
Since that time, only 2 more have been made! That's only (2) in almost 2 and a half years!
(I wonder if any of those (2) were NGC crossovers!?)
Although a beautiful coin, I highly doubt that one would make it with the periphery scratches that Cladking
    pointed out.

NGC coins will cross,....but not often.
Line 4 was the lone ANACS (65)
    All the rest were NGC's
    Line 1 was a 67...
    Line 7 and 8 were 66's
    The rest were 65's

    So, I was 3 for 7 on the NGC's

LINE # CERT # COIN DATE DENOMINATION VARIETY COUNTRY GRADE

Yea, but that is you, I would think you would be at least 90% , others would be like 1 for 20.image

    Couple of Whoppers Gandjai made!

The 72-P Type III in 66 is a darn good coin.

I've crossed two NGC MS67 Ikes. One 71-D and one 74-D. They were very nice coins.

    I agree with everything said.

Coin could go MS65 but if in hand it is not really nice could easily be MS64.

    MS67 at PCGS is TOUGH!!!!!

I have a 1971 D that I plan to send in that is as nice an Ike as I have ever seen, but I will not be surprised if it gets MS66...It is as nice as many MS68 silver Ike's that I have owned but I don't think PCGS will give a clad Ike MS68 EVER!!!
