Exhibits stats on back question.....

I just picked up a small group of very nice Exhibits cards and noticed that most of them are blank backed, yet two (Mays and Maris) have statistics on the back. While the big book list all sorts of variations it does not list this type of variation (ie. cards with stats on the back). Was wondering if there is any 'rhyme or reason' to this?

Which big book are you using? Beckett Almanac separately lists the 1962 Statback Exhibits.

The ones with nothing on the back are 1947-1966 Exhibits. The ones with stats on the back are either 1962 or 1963 Stat Back exhibits, both of which are listed in the SCD. On the 1962 stat backs, the stats can be printed with either red or black, with red supposedly carrying a small premium, although, it's debatable whether they are deserving of any such premium. Both sets have very nice looking cards, and they are relatively inexpensive. Toning is extremely common around the back edges.
