David,
I recently saw PCGS Mercury Dime graded MS65FB with obvious hair lines. The coins was a fresh grade, because it was in the holder with the new blue logo. Is this somethig that is being allowed or is this one that just slipped past. Before this I hadn't seen higher graded Mercury dimes with hair lines. The 1918 in my set is a MS62FB (I think the reason for the grade is the hairlines on the cheek.) Can you share your opinions on how hairlines effect the grade on Mercury Dimes?
Tony

Hi Tony,
Hairlines are hairlines and I don't believe they are any more acceptable now than in the past. A MS65 coin should not have hairlines...depending on how you define the term "hairline."
Thanks,
David
