image Sure looks like "Mei Ji Ni Ju Ichi Nen" (Meij 21 Year - 1888) to me. Even if you don't Shiroh, I remember that they were still writing right to left back then.image

    Y#A25.3, 38.1mm, 26.9568g of .900 silver, Krause says $25 F, $50 VF.

The only thing that makes me nervous is the definition of the "feathers" adjacent to the "Nen" character (3:00). IMHO they really should be sharper to match the rest of the coin's state of preservation.

  • It's definately Meiji 21... that's some fatal error there shiroh... image You just read it as Year 12 JiMei (lol)

It could be a genuine coin but I am not guaranting it... too many counterfeits and you know it's a problem when I have a counterfeit die that looks horrifying real somewhat... image

I don't see anything here to obviously identify this as a fake. It looks pretty good to me.

And yes, shame on you, Shiroh! Bad snake! Bad!

Hey, this is somewhat akin to the Allied questions about who won the 1928 (or, pick a year) World Series...... image

As to the coin; what about the outside rim area at 6K, and just inside the lettering from 2-3K? Just corrosion areas?

A couple of scratches but very original looking to me.image
