The old flip flop!

I was thinking and pondering about are collecting habits here on the board. I started out doing 67s, seem like when I first joined the boards there were quites a few 67 collectors posting, but then I realized I could not really afford to do that set in PSA 8 or 9s, so I switch to 75s. I had more of a sentimental attachment to the 75s and they are more affordable for my budget. Now I have started to collect 78s and now 84s. I see how there were many members who collected 78s and like their passion for this set, I was not a big fan of 78s, but reading their comments on it had me realizing what a nice set it was. I collect 84s for several reasons that I will not expand on. Now that I am about 50 or so cards into the 75 set in PSA 8 and 9s, I am thinking of giving that one up in order to pursue my other sets. I was wondering, and by some threads it does seem to happen, how many board members have changed there collecting interests based on threads that are on the boards, because they see the passion of other board members for a certain set?

Maybe that's not a flip flop at all but just following one's instinct to where the fun leads.

I think it's grand to share and interact with other collectors about what each others passions are in collecting. It's also a great way to gain card knowledge! I guess when it come to a choice of collecting a certain year or set of cards I stick with my own passion for certain cards. There is no doubt reading these boards can fuel some passion for something you didn't even think about before. It might be better to stick with your own inner passions if you find that your collecting a year or set of cards fueled by others passions? Just a thought?
I agree with Ray.....follow YOUR instincts! Obviously the 75 Mini's are my passion and I have never doubted that. That's how I know I'm collecting the right set I think it's great you have a sentimental attachment to the 75 Set! Do you have a true passion for this set? If so, go for it!
I started with 57's then decided there was no possible way I could financially do this set. I then went after 73's and quickly got bored with trying to find a Steve Dunning as a PSA 8 so I quit that set. (I was 15th highest on the board until I quit). Then I went to 64 giants and am now trying to figure out if I want to jump in with both feet on the 84 donruss set. These are all baseball sets by the way.
So to answer your question...yes I seem to change my interests alot and alot of times I am influenced by what I se on the board here......Hence the 84 Donruss thoughts!!
