The stock number matches the coin that came but I feel it is not the same coin. Any of you agree?

    They look different to me.

No matter what, you should return it, even if by some remote chance it is the same coin. Horribly cleaned.

That's NOT the same coin. I would want a full refund including postage.

  • Different coin, I'm sure. The one you received is harshly cleaned. I'd return it.
Everything I write is my opinion.

Is it just me or do none of the coin images at www.cgb.fr show up?

I'm sorry you didn't receive what you expected...really sucks, doesn't it? I would guess that your coin is not the same coin the seller imaged, but look at my similar experience. I believe mine IS the same coin, but seller used some sort of "photo magic." image - Preussen

They look different to me too. That stinks. I'm with returning it. If it is the same coin, the seller obviously tried to hide the "brillo pad" cleaning that was done.

I do not believe those are the same coin Mike! I would expect either the coin in the picture or a full refund.

Since the coin you received is so badly cleaned, it is my suspicion that the coin you did not receive (assuming the coins are not one in the same, I am not yet completely convinced that they aren't) is also cleaned. IMO, forget the exchange, get a refund and put the seller on your "do not buy" list!!!

Preussen - the example you show depicts the cancer that exists in coin selling on ebay. This is why I do not like buying raw coins there anymore.

IMO, this is an example of blatant fraud. Unless they deliver the top coin posted, then this is simply 'bait and switch'.image

I agree it is unfortunate that someone would do this, but I've bought many, many raw coins over the years, both on and off ebay. My experience tells me this is a very rare occurrence. My (German) seller said he'd refund my purchase price upon return, but since the coin was inexpensive, I decided that paying Registered shipping (again) on the chance of a refund wasn't worth the cost. I'll continue buying raw coins (but I'm less likely to do so from unknown sellers) and hope this won't happen again. - Preussen

It's not the same coin, look at the toning! Ask for a refund and forget about it.

Micheál, pm me your address, I have this coin double and I'll send it to you for free. You just have to be patient for about three weeks. image
Meanwhile I'll try to picture it, so that you know whereupon you can look forward to. image

MSD61, the image you posted of the sellers coin carries the CGB.FR id, and this is a french seller who I no longer do business with.

Ordering directly off their web site, coins I received were never coins that were pictured. So, now I no longer to business with them.image

Outside of ebay, I have had pretty good experiences. Inside ebay, over 50% of raw coins I have bought in the last two years were cleaned and not described thus.

Wow, I'm glad I've had better luck than you image. Actually, I'm sorry to learn you've had so many problems. Personally, I have received very few true problem coins, and none that were not returnable. - Preussen

Thanks for the responses folks you all are always great with the support and answers. I plan not to do business with this seller again and as far as the coin is concerned I am working on gettting a refund for it plus the registered shipping.

I see this dealer is part of the Vcoins Mall. they have a Code of Ehtics (NOTE RULE 13) that all dealers are suppose to adhear to. I am sure they may be of service should you have any problems. Josh (Civitas CU forum member) is also a Dealer at Vcoins and I am sure he would not want his a stuff like this to happen.

That's how I found this seller was through the Vcoin mall. I have bought from other sellers there without a problem. I hope there is not too much of a fight to get a refund. I hope this sellers adhears to the code of Ethics Bill.

I have emailed the seller stating I am returning the coin for a full refund. I have heard nothing back and it's been 4 days. I went ahead and sent the coin back anyway with all the information foe the seller to send me a refund. Now it's just waiting to see what happens.

Good luck on this. Not receiving a prompt response from the seller in these situations always makes me nervous.
