IRISH PACKAGING AND PVC??????????

Hello all

I was wondering if anyone knows whether or not the older Irish mint sets like the 1971 polished specimen and 1966 specimen set holders conain PVC in their plastic? I'd imagine so, but, I'm just looking to confirm it.

As a side note, I just purchased a 1971 polished specimen set and it's awesome. If anyones interested you can find them on ebay every so often for under $20 and they are an amazing example of a mint set.

Hi Robert!

The 1971 polished specimen set should be fine however, I'd remove any coins that come in the green plastic wallets (1966) for they are known for PVC. I removed all mine from the green wallet, gave them a bath in acetone and placed them in non-PVC safeflips. An interesting side bar about the 1966 sets is that they are also known as "airport sets". These sets (green wallet sets) were found for sale in shops at the airport.

Micheal is correct, of course.
Also, the "airport sets" were sold for several years, and contain coins from as early as 1962, I believe it was.
