Randy Calls Out Yankee Fans

stownstown Posts: 11,321 ✭✭✭
He found the Yankee Stadium atmosphere underwhelming this year, even though he went 11-2 with a 3.13 ERA at home and was 6-6 with a 4.64 ERA on the road.

"The crowd, and I don't mean this in a disrespectful way, but in games that I've pitched in Arizona, the crowd was really more animated on the days that I pitched than probably any other day that I would witness. And I really fed off of that," he said. "At times this year, I felt that with the Yankee crowd. But I think as a visiting player, I felt more hostility, and I fed off of that."

  • What's the big deal? He's telling the home crowd that he wants them to get excited. The fans WILL respond.

How sad is it that he *has* to tell the fans to get into it?

I guess the fans think with that payroll, they should automatically win every game?

He hasn't pitched a playoff game for the Yanks yet. He wants to make sure they go nuts. They would anyway.

Apparently it's sad to one of the highest profile yankees, too, or else he wouldn't have to ask the crowd to get into it.

  • RJ has yet to realize that he is no longer a big fish in a small pond, it took ARod a year to figure that out and RJ will eventually come around. NY is always bigger than the player and that is about the only city in the world where that can happen!

There will never be a playoff game at Yankee Stadium that is not overly energetic. Randy has no idea what he was talking about. He will find out in game three.

Axtell, you think it is 'sad" only beacuse you don't know what you are talking about either. How bout those Atlanta Braves who have had trouble the last 5 or six years even selling a playoff game out? Now that is sad!
