SCAM ALERT!!

Check out this auction:

SCAM

Knowing that the seller cannot possibly be in possession of these cards, I e-mailed the seller and asked if I received all the cards in the auction (if I won) and if I could get scans of the backs of the 53 Mantle and the 51 Ford. This was the response:

"Yes, every card listed you would win. My boyfriend has put the cards back into storage but I would be happy to relay his comments regarding the back of the cards.

He says..."the Mantle has a very clean back, exactly like the front. Very nice. The Ford back has minor surface wear in the corners...looks like someone glued the card because the front is near mint to mint. It would lower the grade on the Ford but probably not much. The front is spectacular with razor sharp corners."

I hope that helps. Sorry about not having anymore scans. He is a little anal about putting them back in storage so they don't get damaged. Just an FYI...I already have an offer from someone so if you are interested you might want to make one. The auction has a good chance at ending early.
Thanks again,
Jennifer"

Yeah, here's my offer: I offer to expose your scam on the PSA board!

Should send eBay that mail. Being asked to send them an off-ebay bid and they will consider ending the auction
early so they don't have to pay the eBay fees is a big no-no with eBay.

There's nothing particularly in short supply in this lot - how do you know he/they/it is not in possesion of these cards?

  • Because 1) the only item they have ever sold on E-bay was a 52 Mantle to a buyer who is no longer a resgistered user and 2) they cannot produce additional pictures of the cards they have for sale.

Cards are in storage? Come on!
  • The seller has paid some pretty good coin for some low to midrange grade cards in the past. The one sale of an SGC Mantle to a NARU user may throw up some red flags, but who knows? Just might be odd that the guy pays top dollar for single cards in auctions and than throws together a big dollar "lot" like this that would keep a lot of bidders away because of the money involved....
  • Hmmmmmmmm I'm from San Diego, I wonder if she would let me do a local pickup on these.

The scans look completely legit. That thing with the 52 Mantle is suspicious. Just a quick opinion after looking at it and some of the buyers/sellers, that it might be a few people around the country possibly shilling for each other. YOU are not going to "steal" these cards with a low bid. The auction will end at a high price or if the price is low, the buyer will be someone from the shilling group - just my opinion.

PS: The seller understands grading so I believe there is DEFINITELY something wrong with that 53 Mantle. Either trimmed or partly recolored...something.
