Why? Never had a problem with customs on any coins from foreign auctions (all in Germany). 3Mark

No, Luftpost, but customs has never come into play on foreign shipments. When I send coins to Germany, I never use the express services because of customs on their end. Maybe it works the same way for coins coming this way by express services. 3Mark

It appears that NUMISMATIC ITEM is not specific enough for them. They want a full description of what the item is.

If it had said coin or token, it would have gone right through.

If it had said "coin," it may well have been stolen.

Do you think this has something to do with the Cuban cigars you asked them for?

  • Just a couple of weeks ago, I got a shipment from Sweden with a piece of plate money in it and the department of homeland security opened it. The seller had marked Old Coin (Used) on the customs form. Customs just taped it up, and put it back in the mail. It was delayed no more than a day.

    Good luck with yours.

Bob It looks like is what they did to mine too. Fedex tracking shows it has now been released. I hope they did not mishandle it.

  • Another reason why you hate customs... they just want to collect as much $$$ as possible and when they are not happy to determine it's maximum value, they will just delay it as long as they like... lol image
