Completed Basic Lincoln Memorial Set, Circ.

Finially completed the memorial set, now it's time for the upgrades and to work on the complete Lincoln circulation strike set, which will never be completed which everything else I'm also working on. Just started collecting bi-metallic coins, the new British 2 pound Comm. is really sweet. Bob image (And yes I am a letter carrier)

Congratulations on completing your Memorial set. Good luck on the upgrades. But don't pass Toto's Treats
And Treasures! image Just kidding. I actually enjoy it when fellow collectors are successful with their sets.

    Bob -

Welcome to the boards and congrats on completing your set. I too have some upgrades that I would like to make in my set however my pursuit of the 09-58 has put a damper on my memorial upgrades for the time being.

Yeah RegistryNut.....I'll be hot on YOUR tail when Jaime sends me my 68, 72 & 84-D! image

    Gotta love the registry!

    Toby,
Boy, you're gonna have a complete set too! Well I think that's great. My Memorial set has stalled. Seems
like I'm the underbidder quite often lately. But I did upgrade 5 coins in September. As far as the long set
goes I got 22 raw coins to grade. I need to get busy I guess. My date set is 84% done. Just a few more
additions to get my 4 free gradings.

You're doing well and Jaime and Water Sport are great members to lend a hand. But I'll try and hold you
off as long as I can. You can count on ole RegistryNut to give you some good competition. I've got a few
ideas cooking and, hopefully, the updated sign will appear on my sets enough to keep you on my tail only and not ruffling my feathers. Hea hea hea!

  • I had completed the memorial set a while back but I just sold off my 1968(65), 1972(65) and 1984-D(67). Jaime made me a 68 and a 72 in 66RD and he's also found me a nicer 84-D in 67. Coming from him, I wouldn't doubt it if the 68 and 72 appear to be of 67 quality. I am looking forward to receiving the coins. As several of you know...he has developed one heck of an eye for lincolns...

I will add my congratulations too and agree that it’s been great helping one another along the way. I hope to get my set 100% done hopefully in two months. But I will not be a competitor to any of your great sets. I congratulated you all on a set well done!

  • Gosh Watersport... I was hoping your set would be done this afternoon or something... Gosh pcgs is slow grading those 77-d's. Ellewood's 68,71,72 have now been at pcgs for over 75 days.
  • Wojo's set I presume? Good job again!!

    Bob,
And I am not a competitor to your 09-Present set. image Some day, however, I just may be. image

Congratulations Mike. Good luck to you on the upgrades. This is where it gets more expensive. image
I'm always viewing your set so I'll notice them all.

  • Thanks Registry Nut, I also just finished upgrading all my photo's for my Memorials as well, with both obverse and reverse veiws. That was more difficult to complete than obtaining the coins for the set. imageNow I can enjoy both veiws anytime and anywhere I travel. image

  • Great Job !!
How long did this take ? I think finding this many coins in high grades takes a bit more work than most think.

    Chris.
  • Hi Chris, Your right on it taking a while getting this type of set in high grade is very difficult. I've been at it now for about 6 years altogether on all my sets as I was out of collecting for quite a while before getting back in collecting again in 1999. As I've noted in my set's a grateful thank you to you and many others that have helped in obtaining great examples for my sets. I was a collector when I was a youngster but got out of it after my stint in the military which I wish today that I'd have never done. My wife reinspired my passion again with a Christmas present in 1999 that got me hooked again. image Sometimes she doesn't understand the desire of the hunt for the great pieces but it keeps me at home when I could be out spending money on stupid things that have no positive results, when I'm not out trucking as I am tonight. imageBut the bills and my passion have to have a source of Funds. imageCollecting COINS is Very Enjoyable!imageimage
