1992 UD Heroes Wilt Chamberlain Auto

I recently purchased one of these in a PSA holder and was wondering if this was some kind of insert. I have checked the big Beckett Basketball Card Guide and can't seem to find out any information. With 1999 UD legends auto's going for over $1000, these seem like a good bargain in the $150-$250 range. I have seen the Jerry West autos in the Beckett, but no info on Chamberlain. Any help would be appreciated.

I never realized his autos were so high. The cheapest recent in-pack auto went for $1225.
2005 Origins Old Judge Brown #/20 and Black 1/1s, 2000 Ultimate Victory Gold #/25
2004 UD Legends Bake McBride autos & parallels, and 1974 Topps #601 PSA 9
Rare Grady Sizemore parallels, printing plates, autographs
Nothing on ebay
Did those cards come auto and non-auto?
The non-auto version only came in packs. The autograph version was only availabel through UDA back in 1993. UDA sold a framed set that included all cards in the chamberlain Heroes set and had the 'art' card autographed by Wilt (SRP according to one of my catalouges from 1994 was $999.99 USD). Here's what the item sold by UDA looked like (minus the autograph card) I was trying to get it cheap to house my copy of the autograph card. :-(
Why does the auto need to be authenticated if pack pulled?
All certified pack pulled autographs from sets issued before 1999 have to have the autograph certified by an autograph authenticator before PSA/DNA or GAI/DNA will slab them. Card companies were pretty lax in terms of witnessing the actual players sign the cards before 1999. Because card companies are more stringent in their methods since 1999, this requirement is not needed for the post'99 pack certified autographs.
There have been two instances where a couple of sellers have sold this card in bulk lots over the last 3 years. One seller sold between 15-25 copies back in late 2002 and early 2003. Those cards normally sold between $35-75. Another seller recently sold at least 10 and probably no more than 15 copies between late 2004 and March, 2005. He started each auction at $49.95 and aside from a couple of bidding wars, most sold in the $50-60 range. Most of these cards are now in the slabs that you see today.
One last thing if anyone is looking to buy this card: the UDA certified autograph was only signed with a thick, black sharpie. If its a thinner sharpie stroke or any other colour but black, it was not part of that set and may or may not be fake.
Can you show us a scan of the card?
Thanks

Thanks for posting the information. SGC is across the street, GAI is down the block, but those guys are from another planet.
