Dawson Oskey Walker Set

Just to inform that the #1 late date Walker set, recently known as the Dawson Oskey set, previously the Dick Graham set, was purchased by Pinnacle-Rarities. Oskey is an awesome set with three pop 1's and 4 pop 2's in addition to other condition rarities. Looks as if Pinnacle is becoming the company of choice for the top Walker sets, having sold the GBW set last year, and more recently the Ed Wheat toned late date set. Now they have the best ever late date Walker registry set. It appears that Dick Graham (Walkerguy) sold his set to a dealer named Vince Cavo, who then named the set "Dawson Oskey," the name of his grandson. He insisted on selling the set as a whole rather than breaking it up, and looks as if he was successful.

I have seen a good number of the coins in that set and don't recall any "dogs", "pigs" or just-make-it examples being part of it. A great set!
  • Dick Graham (Walkerguy) put the set together and was a discriminating buyer. At one time he was thinking of purchasing one of the few low pops he didnt own, a 1937-P in 68, a pop 2. He decided it wasnt worthy of the 68 grade and didnt buy it. The coin was owned by a dealer whose name I wont mention so as not to get knocked of these boards (hint, hint). A short while later I saw the same coin at the U.S. Coins table, I believe in Milwaukee at a big show, for about $7000 less than the original price. I looked at it with the possibility of buying it, but Dick was right; it definitely wasnt a PQ 68.
