Anybody miss the actual FEEL of the card instead of it being in a graded holder?

Just wondering. I'm talking more specifically about pre war cards, and the chance to actually hold them instead of only seeing them through the plastic. I wouldn't recommend holding a high grade one as the money value is too high to want to hold it. But, how about the lower grade pre war cards? I personally like to hold them as it gives a slightly different 'feel' to the history of the card. Has anybody bought pre war cards that were already holdered and broke them out to get the real feel of them? I have a few I am thinking about breaking out so I could let somebody else share in the joy of holding the 'time machine' for a little while.

We may miss the feel of the card, but the safety of the cards "condition" overcomes.

I have dropped way, way down in collecting cards over the last few years. Besides Heritage, I'm only working on two sets - graded...

That's why I have found it much more rewarding to collect memorabilia - you can "handle" it and mess with it!

But the cards will always be the first attraction for me.

You know I use to think why would anyone want a card slabbed in a platic encasing, you will never be able to physically touch the card. But the first time I got a card in a PSA holder, it was like a mini piece of art. Now I just love the look of a card in a PSA holder.

I second that, nothing feels better than getting that signed Babe Ruth bat out and going to the backyard to smack Barry Bonds autographed baseballs over the fence.

If you want feel, find a 1914 or 1915 Cracker Jack card. It is amazing any of them survived.
