Images of my first cob

This is my first cob. We have a new member in our local club who has written several books on cobs (Alan Craig). After I read one of his books and one by Frank Sedwick, I realized that I could actually begin to understand what they were about. It was a very scary thought.

This one is Potosi mint, 1669 8 Reales, and 3 dates show. It is one of the best Potosi cobs that I found at our show and there will be a few others to add during the next couple of years.

Hope you enjoy them,

The scary thought is that one could understand them. I've collected and studied the milled versions for 30 yrs - and I still don't mess with cobs - other than trying to help somebody else identify one. There's a lot to those little beasties !!
    knowledge ........ share it

Right -- I have seen them for years, but did not understand anything, and it all seemed like there was no sense to it. After reading quite a lot about them, I can begin to understand what the marks mean. While I was at the show Saturday, I could look at them and tell the dealer more than he knew in a couple of cases. Some of the cobs out there are real junk, and I even saw a couple of fakes. It pays to read first, and buy later.
