I'm sure 9 out of 10 guys who are married hate their in-laws but I sure lucked out, my wife's parents are great.

This evening Todd Harvey of the Edmonton Oilers was at our door with a pair of 3-game Premium Pack tickets.. vs Montreal, Toronto and Calgary. The Oilers put on this promotion where if season tickets or mini-packs were purchased during a specified time frame Oilers would deliver the tickets.. My birthday isn't until the first of November but this is what my in-laws got for me. When I opened the door I was like a deer in headlights I was so surprised. Todd was great.. He came in and joked around a bit and signed one of the tickets for me. this made my day.. things could go to sh!t for the rest of the month and I'll still have a smile on my face.

Mike, click here for a nice little profile of Todd Harvey.. He's not a superstar by any means but a good player who should do a lot better with the new rules in the NHL.

I forgot to also mention... He was with a local radio station guy who was bouncing off the walls holding a mic interviewing me a bit with Harvey.. I turned on the radio 5minutes after they left and I was on the radio.. They took a bunch of pictures too, I'm not sure if they'll end up on the Edmonton Oilers page or the radio stations website or what though. It was very cool, I must have been doing something right this year to get such a great gift from them.

That's an awesome promotion, and an even better gift. That's very cool! My in-laws are great too, but the father in-law can be a bit overbearing at times.

Yeah, other cities should do the same and not just hockey, baseball etc.. I doubt my inlaws would have gotten me tickets if the players weren't handing them out themselves door to door making it more special.. many of the interviews on the local news stations with fans who received tickets said they wouldn't have purchased them otherwise.

I can't wait for the games.. I've only been to two games so this is a real treat.

Just a jersey for expensive full season tickets.. that sucks. The Devils have crappy fan support don't they?

I wish I was going to tomorrows season opener.. They're doing something special plus giving out free mini stanley cups.

The Devils support isn't very good. Except for Rangers and Flyers games, tickets are pretty easy to get. I can buy them off ebay for less than face value. For better or worse, the Devils fans only turn out for the playoffs. I think we have taken the team's recent successful performance for granted. That, and the ticket prices are pretty high.

The Bruins are giving you 4 free tix to a game if you buy 4. I'm going to take in a couple games thanks to the promo. I passed up tix to tomorrows opener against Monty. Just couldn't clear my plate in time.
