The Great Gemmini Rivals The Great Carsoni

DirtyHarryDirtyHarry Posts: 1,917 ✭✭✭
Anyone over 40 may remember the skits from the Johnny Carson Show, where Carson came out enrobed in a black cloak...head wrapped in a turbin...as the "Great Carsoni." Ed McMahon would hand him an envelope with a question in it...Carsoni would hold it up to his head and predict the answer...and then the actual question would be read. The punchline being delivered first...relative to the question...was why the audience broke into laughter.

Thank you, Gemmini, for carrying on the heritage of the Great Carsoni. Your predictions will certainly provide us with laughter.

I think that should read anyone over 30 image

  • I think you'd have to be a little older than 40 to remember him as The Great Carsoni...

    ----
As a teen, he gigged around as "The Great Carsoni," a magic-and-ventriloquist act. Leaving the card tricks to the caped fellows, Carson turned to radio and TV announcing, and, in 1951, landed his first show, Carson's Cellar.
    ----

The character on the tonight show was Carnac the magnificent or the amazing Carnak or something like that.
  • DirtyHarry - LOL, but it was the "Great Carnak". So I think you must mean the Great Gemmak image.
  • DirtyHarryDirtyHarry Posts: 1,917 ✭✭✭
DGbball - you are correct. Should have been "Carnac the Magnificient." Ergo, a re-title is necessary. I'm so old I got it mixed up!

  • Say what now? Sorry, I used the ---- to indicate (I thought) that I copied that from somewhere else. I don't generally write with the style and knowledge of a Carson biographer... I would like a few more Carnac predictions though.

Only 29 eh? If that's true, you'd be second youngest republican in existence here in MA (after myself). What's with the RipublicaninMass name anyways? Are you really driving around Kennedy country with Bush/Cheney bumperstickers, or is there some joke there I'm missing.

Hey, Mitt Romney is a Republican -- In fact the last 4 governors in Mass have been Republicans. Even Massachusetts gets tired of liberalism run amok. However, registered Democrats still outnumber Republicans 7-1 in Mass.

Mass. Republicans sometimes come down here to Connecticut to take refuge.

but on in Westport , greenwich, or new caanan...where all those rich Republicans live that John Kerry is always talking about!! image

When you under 18 and a Republican it means you have no heart, when your over 18 and you're democrat it means you have no brain (can't think for yourself)

    2 things...

<< <i>Anyone over 40 may remember the skits from the Johnny Carson Show, where Carson came out enrobed in a black cloak >>

I am 28 and I remember. Good stuff.

<< <i>When your under 18 and a Republican it means you have no heart, when your over 18 and you're democrat it means you have no brain (can't think for yourself) >>

OK, I have yet to get political but I have $.02 here. I agree with the no heart and I don't think age matters. As far as the think for yourself, I think that is a bit hypocritical. People of the post baby-boomer generation are Republicans for 2 reasons:

    1) fairly simple...They like guns and don't want to lose their right to own/use them.

    2) this will likely be disputed...They can't think for THEMselves and since daddy became a republican after he made a lot of money I am one too! I don't want to be taxed on the money I have never worked a day in my life for! My daddy is (so and so).

I obviously think that democratic people are wise enough, and thereby using their brains, too realize guns and greed will not solve domestic problems. The rich will still be rich no matter how much they have to contribute to the betterment of the country that gives them the freedoms they take for granted.

I won't even go to the "W" debacle. How people watched this man stumble through news confrence after statement and vote for him again is beyond me. The man is a bafoon. But hey, his daddy was rich and famous so he's a republican that won't tax us or strip us of our arms.

  • zef204,

    Please go away.

    1. Your $.02 doesn't buy you a comment on this thread, especially a stupid and childish one.
    2. Your comment on this thread is stupid and childish.
    3. Your comments are too stupid and childish to be debated - seriously.
    4. You should've stopped at "OK, I have yet to get political but "...
    5. Your comments are a sad commentary on the level of political intelligence and understanding in America's youth today.

    but most importantly...

    6. By showing up here, you opened the door for the d.b. posting right after you to think he is welcome here too.

zef204, I am so glad there are people like you out there. Liberals like yourself allow my party to keep growing and winning. You are ignorant in your beliefs and as long as you lack common sense things will only improve for the Republican Party. By the way stupid, Democrats have more money than Republicans. Also, look at the tradegy in New Orleans. This was a Liberal runned city and state for the last 60 years.
  • stevekstevek Posts: 28,997 ✭✭✭✭✭
New Orleans has a Democrat Mayor, a Democrat City Council, and a Democrat
Chief of Police. Louisiana has a Democrat Governor, a Democrat Lt. Governor,
a Democrat Attorney General; 24 of 39 Louisiana State Senators are Democrat,
67 of 105 Louisiana State House Representatives are Democrat, there's a
Democrat Representative in the House from New Orleans, and one of two
Senators in the Senate is a Democrat.

SO YOU CAN SEE WHY IT"S ALL BUSH"S FAULT!

LOL!!! ha!! ANYWAYS, that quote I wrote is not from me. But I think there is some truth to it. I refuse to discuss politics or religion. As far as the demo's having more money, that was my little ploy throwing John Kerry in the mix. Let's get back to harrassing Gemmy instead of other please!

    What the f?!?!

    That's just like saying:

People of the post baby-boomer generation are Democrats for 2 reasons:

    1) fairly simple...They are lazy and don't want to work so they depend on the government for the monthly check.

    2) this will likely be disputed...They can't think for THEMselves and since daddy became a republican after he made a lot of money, they decided to rebel against him out of spite and become "cool" like those people on MTV.
